FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How can you check if a company is real?

Start with the free checks: the company register (Companies House, KVK), the EU VAT check (VIES) and a web search. They tell you the company exists. They do not tell you who is really behind it, whether the address is shared with dozens of other firms, or whether the director is a real person. That is what a Quickscan adds.

Why not just check the company register myself?

A registration proves a company exists, not that it is real. Fraudsters register companies too, often weeks before they ask for money. The Quickscan looks at what the register does not show: ownership, links to other companies, the age of the website and the people behind it.

How do I find out if a company is scamming me?

Watch for pressure to pay quickly, a new or changed bank account, an advance before anything is delivered, a company only weeks old, and contact only by email or messaging app. If you see two or more, do not pay until you know who you are dealing with.

What are the red flags of a shell company?

An address shared with many other companies, directors who sit on dozens of other boards, no staff, no trading history, a website only weeks old, and a bank account in a different country from the company. One flag is not proof. Several together are a reason to stop and check.

How do I spot a fraudulent invoice?

Check the sender, not just the invoice. Does the company name match the registered entity? Does the account name on the IBAN match the company? Is the person who signed authorised to do so? A changed bank account on an invoice from an existing supplier is the most common warning sign.

What happens during a screening?

Four steps. We confirm the scope with you, collect information from public sources, analyse and verify it, and deliver a report with a verdict. You only supply the name, the country and the decision you are about to make.

How much does a due diligence report cost?

A full due diligence for an acquisition is done by accountants and lawyers and often costs thousands. The Quickscan answers one narrower question, whether your counterparty is real, for a fixed EUR 450. If the findings call for it, you can continue at EUR 350 per day.

Can you check whether a company is financially healthy?

The Quickscan is about whether a company is real, not about its credit rating. Public signs of financial trouble, such as insolvency records, are part of the findings. For a full credit score, use a credit agency.

What is a Quickscan?

A check whether your counterparty is real, before you pay or sign. Who is behind the company, fraud signals, adverse media and sanctions, ending in one clear verdict.

What do I receive?

A short report: the bottom line first, the sources and how reliable they are, the critical findings including what I could not confirm, and a verdict: go, caution or stop. Signed by a named analyst.

Can you check a person instead of a company?

Yes. A director, shareholder or investor can be the subject.

Will the subject know?

No. I only use public sources and never contact the subject.

What happens to my information?

Your request is used only for the scan. Messages sent through the form are deleted after 90 days.

What if you find something serious?

The verdict tells you. If you want to go deeper, I can continue at EUR 350 per day or move to a full due diligence.

Is this for private individuals?

No. The Quickscan is for business decisions only.
